How to Find Compelling Hooks!
Compelling hooks are essential to Engaging our students’ minds.
But how do you find and create them?
Learn, and borrow, from advertising.
It is an endless source of outrageously researched and effective, brain-based attention grabbers.
Bottom line - Companies spend a lot of money on ads and only keep the ones that deliver a profitable return. The same principles apply to engaging students.
Remember those political ads that kept you clicking, even when you were already saturated? That’s the power of a compelling hook.
So let’s adapt their ideas to our audience and content.
Borrow slogans, images, phrases, jingles, and single words that work on you.
Then mold, manipulate, and mangle them to fit your needs.
Also, take a page from advertisers' playbooks:
Treat your hooks like a million-dollar secret recipe—test, refine, and perfect them.
The more you do, the more you will learn their secret skills.
When you find what clicks, your students will follow and take the bait.
Irresistible. Unignorable.
But if it doesn't work— Stop it. Move on. (Even if You love it!)
If we only teach the way we like to learn, we only reach students just like us.

Use more weird images for hooks!
Their effectiveness can't be overstated.
Advertisers rely on them because they work. They are Albrainian.
