Avoid This Engagement Mistake At All Costs!
“I’m rubber, you’re glue!
Bounces back and sticks to you!”
Do students see us only as Error Examiners?
Problem Proclaimers?
WARNING! . . . (Our criticism bounces back and Sticks to Us!)
Or do they also see us as Effort Encouragers?
“Hard worker!”
“Nice progress.”
“That was Brave! Very Strong!”
“You never quit! Nothing stops you!”
Do you know that the things we say about others, will later be attributed back to Us?
When you say, “Sarah is so thoughtful and considerate.” -
Others listening will likely consider you thoughtful and considerate.
Whatever we say about others, influences how people view Us!
And kids catch everything.
Our words (and actions) bounce back and stick to Us!
It's a survival instinct known as Spontaneous Trait Transference.
Sadly, it also works in reverse.
If I say, “Rachel is so apathetic.” -
Over-hearers will likely associate that negative quality with me, as well.
Avoid at all costs!
(Our criticism bounces back and sticks to Us!)
I wish you well, my friend!
