“Stop Asking for a Brain Break!”

Do you wish that term had never been created?

Here’s your remedy—

“A change is as good as a break for the brain.”

Because the brain can never stop working. If it did we would die.

So instead, tell them, “Small changes of thinking Are a break for the brain.”

They energize it, and allow it to then return to more intensive tasks.

Let’s change ‘Brain Break’ to ‘Energizer’. Small attention-shifts energize the brain.

When we create and allow a short transition to a lighter task, it is as close as the brain gets to a break. And it can even be on-topic.

Instead of calling it a Brain Break, call it an Energizer.

When something novel happens it energizes the brain. Variety.

“Turn and talk on topic (content) for 1 minute.”

That tiny social piece relaxes and energizes the brain. We all need that variety every few minutes.

The brain cannot work continuously for long periods of time.

When depleted, it Will kick out. Switch gears. Think about something easier. Daydream.

It is a survival instinct that can never change.

Tell your kids— “A change is as good as a break.” For the brain.

I wish you well, my friend!
